Best of September

One of my favorite things to read is people’s monthly favorites so I'm quite excited to start what will be a staple series here on the blog.
Here are my favorites for the month of September:
The Financial Diet Instagram - As I’m getting older, I’ve become more aware of my finances and especially over the past year where I’ve been making more of a conscious effort to become more wise as it relates to personal finance. The Financial Diet on Instagram (an extension of its website) has been one of my favorite accounts to follow this past month. It’s a small step but the information provided is really easy to understand, relatable and has encouraged me to take further steps on my journey to financial wellness.

Google Digital Garage - Earlier this year, I challenged myself to dedicate more time to personal and career development. I wanted to get back on a reading schedule, be up to date on any and all new developments in my professional background and just expand my knowledge beyond just scrolling through Instagram aimlessly.
Enter Google Digital Garage - Google’s own platform with free courses on topics from Digital Marketing to Database Management, some of which even offer Google certifications. My background is in Marketing and Communications so I’ve found myself testing and gaining new knowledge in the Digital Marketing suite of courses, which are easy to follow and very engaging.

To Be A Miss - This Netflix documentary gives an insight into Venezuela’s beauty pageant industry and follows several young women who have high hopes of winning their various pageants. It’s no secret that Venezuela is pretty much a beauty queen factory, so seeing just how much hard work these girls go through and how seriously the entire country takes the title of “Miss Venezuela” was really interesting. It also highlights just how the billion dollar beauty industry of the country affects (particularly) women and their self perception.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filtr Instant Retouch Setting Powder in shade Nutmeg - The newest addition to my ever growing Fenty Beauty Stash, this has become my favorite setting powder. Trinidad’s heat and humidity these days is no joke and thanks to this powder I don’t look as oily as I normally would under these ridiculous weather conditions. It’s not cakey and makes your skin look flawless and poreless. 10/10 will recommend.
Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Moisturizer - Finally I got my hands on this. I’ve been meaning to try this for ages and I don’t know why I waited this long because it’s truly amazing. It’s lightweight, melts into your skin and is perfect for our extremely hot temperatures. Also - Vitamin C is one of my favorite skincare ingredients as it aids in brightening skin. Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum has been a staple product of mine for years so I have high hopes for this moisturizer.

Aris TnT Foods - Beetroot & Ginger Relish - I discovered this brand at the Carifesta Grand Market held this August and being a lover of all things beetroot and ginger I instantly grabbed this one. It’s so good, I eat it alone but the owner mentioned it can be used as a topping on salads and sandwiches. My mom got the Pepper Jelly which is also very delicious and will make a great addition to a charcuterie board. You can find them via Instagram at @aristnt.foods.
And there you have it, items that stood out to me this September. Can't wait to see what October brings ... stay tuned!
